Bad Penguin put this questionnaire up, and since I’m on vacation and being lazy, I figured I’d go ahead and answer the questions rather than thinking up something of my own. It turned out to be a fairly comprehensive review of 2008, including some stuff I had forgotten, like what I did on my birthday. Lucky for me I can look stuff up in this handy-dandy blog.

That above paragraph is verbatim from Bad Penguin because I AM  on vacation too and I’m going to do this as a review of 2008…wooot!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Humm…certainly not my now 4 year old who is still in the terrible two’s and not potty trained either….ugh…so….my 5 year old who might have spent the first month and a half in trouble for talking but he is now part of his class, sitting with them and everything without getting in trouble.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Did you read the part up there about not potty trained...and now 4 years old?

Medication and doctors

Live life..I turned 40 and I’m going to embrace it as if I were Jessica Simpson, Nicole Ritchie, Ellen DeGeneres but with the class of Brooke Shields.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
This does not sum up my year at all, doesn’t really sum up any of my years but it sticks in my mind forcefully……

Kid Rock’s All Summer Long "we were trying different things, we were smoking funny things, makin’ love down by the lake all summer long"  or something like that….

Bob Carlisle’s Butterfly Kisses which my cousin walked down the aisle to a few weeks ago instead of the traditional wedding march "

"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it’s just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don’t cry!"

And, The Beetles, "I’m a Believer"  which is the song my cousin left the wedding aisle to "Then I saw her face
Now I’m a believer."

Here’s to a great 2009 for all of us. Happy New Year!

Yesterday…no wait, let me back up… I am a big sissy when it comes to pain.  And, when I pack for a vacation, I never ever ever ever pack a razor that’s loaded.  That means, I always put a cover on the darn thing or I just throw that one away and take a new on fresh in the pack.  But, this trip, this trip I was in a hurry.  As if anyone was going to need to shave in the freakin 20 degree weather.  But, anyway, I packed a loaded razor.

With that loaded razor, I also packed my make-up.  Yea, you see where this is going don’t you?  I was digging my make-up which, why did I bring make-up, who wears make-up when it is 20 degree’s, but hey, I wanted at least one photo of me where I looked like a blimp with make-up as opposed to…well whatever the opposite that might be…

Anyway, I was digging in the overnight bag and pulling out make-up.  I’m not a big made-up girl, I mean, I’m a big girl, a really big girl, but not when it comes to my make-up.  Anyway, how am I getting off track so easily.

Anyway, I pulled out the base, check, the powder, check, the brush, check, the blush, check, the eye liner….eye liner…..where’s that eye liner……I can’t find the eye liner…….

Ok, put the other stuff down, insert hand into overnight bag, dig for eye liner and WHAM!  Just like I have envisioned it would be, I cut the frickin’ daylights out of my index finger on my right hand.

Ok, no problem, where’s the…….crap, I didn’t bring band aids because…who needs band aids in 20 degree weather….?

I wrap my finger, finish with the eye liner AFTER Boy Genius dug it and the razor out of the bag WITHOUT chopping off his finger…….we leave, finger is still bleeding like mad, what am I?  A stuck pig?

We go in the office at the condo, lady only has these itty bitty band aids that might have been ok for my 4 year old’s pinky toe but not for my big girl finger.

So, we wrap 3 or 4 around here and head on our way.  We stop for an 18 dollar box of band aids (no really, they didn’t cost 18 bucks but with the cost of everything else around here, it wouldn’t have surprised me).  I put on one of these monster band aids (yea, my husband knows I’m a big girl) and that was the end of it.

Then, a few minutes ago, Boy Genius says to me, "Did you change your band aid today?"

What?  Change the band aid?  My finger hurts and the less I mess with it, the better it feels, no I’m not changing the band aid.  "Yea, you have to change the band aid" he says.  Ok, fine get me another one of those monster 18 dollar band aids.

When he returns, I pull off the other monster 18 dollar band aid and show him my finger.  This is where he yells, "you filet it…gross, ugh ugh ugh, I’m gonna throw up, ugh, ugh, I didn’t want to see it, ugh ugh, gross, gross, you filet it"

And, I was laughing my arse off.  I suggested that, "I figured if you were bringing the fresh band aid you wanted to see the damage".  To which he replied, "Yea and the next time I have a hemorrhoid I’ll show it to you!"

Whoa!  Hemorrhoids and razor cut fingers are so not the same thing.

So, here I am, cooped up in a 1 bedroom condo with 2 wilder than wild children.  One would think….after all the days activities, they would be exhausted because…yea mom is whooped.

We got up early…because remember I was going to the Pancake Pantry or bust this morning.  And, we did.  We got their early and waited maybe five minutes for a seat.  Here’s a little look at what my family looks like before, during and after breakfast…

walker eating breakfast Does he look sleepy?  Hahahaha!

Now, our plates of food…let’s start with the sugar addict in the family…..Mini-Me had M & M Pancakes…

jaces breakfast

Yes, M & M’s and powdered sugar with…..

jace peanut butter syrup Yes, peanut butter syrup…I am not kidding you at all……

Then, the one eating reasonably….Ditto Boy had plain waffle, egg and bacon of which he ate maybe 1/4…..

walkers breakfast place

Here we have the next sweet eater in the family…..I had pancakes rolled around banana’s with pineapple sauce and one banana on top for good measure…

my breakfast

And, momma ain’t momma because she leaves much food on her plate…here ya go……here’s all I left…

jerri anns left overs

Yea, not much…

Boy Genius had pecan waffles which ….

waynes breakfast

which came with this….

syrup for wayne's walnut pancakes

Ok, make that walnuts maybe..I dunno, pecans, walnuts, all the same to  me….

Here’s what the place looked like when we came out…

the line after breakfast and this would be the rest of the line…

the rest of the line

Yea, so now you know why we went early…..

ok, so other than this, we rode the tram up the mountain, then we rode the scenic lift even further up and then back down…then we did the thing that is kind of like bobsledding except it involves no snow and wheels…….that wasn’t too bad except the walk back up the hill afterwards….

The major fun came afterwards when……….we sneaked the boys in the gate at the bottom of the ski area and let them play in the homemade snow which…was more like icy slush.  But, let me tell you something, Ditto Boy may be pretty big for his age, but Mini Me is freakin’ relentless.  He was slinging snow at Ditto Boy and when Ditto Boy would fall, he would just throw it harder and faster…..just look…

as if it were sand boys enjoying snow

j alone jace and his dimples in snoware those dimples gorgeous or what?

 j falling down

running in snow  snowball fighting 3  snowball fighting 4 the kid has no mercy, he just keeps pummeling Ditto Boy even after his is down..snowball fighting 5 no mercy snowball fighting 7 no mercy 3 snowball fighting 8 no mercy 5  snowball fighting 10 no mercy

snowball fighting 11 no mercy No Mercy, I’m telling you, no mercy!

snowball fighting 11 no mercy The kid is relentless….

So, that’s that!  And, tomorrow (Thursday, the 1st) we head home…

Hello,

I just arrived home after a long vacation for the holiday.  Yes, I did receive the travel tray (Family Travel Gear).  All I can say is where were they when my kids were little??? They are so great.  I am sure that my grandson will love it.

Thanks

Veronica
