Socialite in Need of Social Space

If you read this post, you understand how I’m in this place of confusion.  I mean, I’m 40, surely I’m suppose to behave different differently than I did when I was 20?  I mean, that seems fairly obvious doesn’t it?

But, I look around me and I see people, people my age or near it, socializing and having a good time.  While I sit back and watch.  Trust me when I tell you, I’ve never  been a watcher.  I never had dates to the school dances, but that didn’t stop me from going and I certainly didn’t stand around the edges praying some guy would ask me to dance.  I gathered a group of girls and we danced with each other.

If we were to slide back 25 years and I was the person I am now, I would have gone home, I wouldn’t have even gone to the school dance.  I’ve simply lost my mo-jo it seems.

I wonder if having kids calmed me down, or was it simply maturity?  Either way, I long to get involved with some of the big blog communities and I have managed to make friends in some of them, but I want to be the old me, the one leading the way, the one with the biggest mouth and the loudest voice.

But, I am not that person.  I’m just me.  I wrote a post about Blogher this summer which caused quite a clamor amongst some of the well-known blogger’s as well as some of the other less popular blogger’s as well.

Anyway, almost every person that commented encouraged me to go to Blogher 09.  I’m still not sure I have the courage to go, I’m scared, what if no one likes me?  So, I made the decision to to go to a few small get together’s between now and then, (hopefully one in February in Tennessee) and maybe one more.

But, this post, this post is one I’m writing to try to win a pre-paid spot for January 22 and 23rd at this Social Networking Conference and well, if this post doesn’t just scream “get this girl out of the house” or “teach this woman to socialize again”, then surely nothing every will. 

I learned about this conference through Fuel My Blog and if you aren’t familiar with this company, you should go give them a look.  They have a great little system working over there and I just added 2 or3 of my new blogs over there.
