Back before Blogher, I entered a contest where I was awarded the people’s choice award on Muffintopless to receive some apparel from Slim Perfect.  If you look, their banner is still in my side bar.  And, if you notice, there were winners who actually did wonderful videos, I, however, simply went about begging people to suggest that I win based on seeing me in my 5 year old maternity clothes which are the stable of my wardrobe.

At the same time, you don’t win an award like that unless you have a big mouth like mine.  Just kidding, I’ve been given advice more than once in the last few weeks regarding my ability to woo people based on my good southern hospitality and a few other minor details (like I never shut up talking).  I know that often times I go overboard but I’m doing my best when in the presences of experts to shut up and listen and not just keep spewing crap from my mouth.

Anyway, I said all that to say, I’ve written posts before regarding my real life friendships.  I did a video on Girlfriendology about the two best friends I have right now being the same 2 best friends I have had since I was 14.  Yea, old habits die hard.  I am comfortable with them, it’s nice to know I can be me, they know my history, they know my opinions, I don’t have to worry about political correctness when I am with them.  You can read more about the 3 of us and our ability to only give birth to boys (we have our own basketball team with substitutes) on the post called The Anatomy of a Friendship

In the meantime, I live 40 minutes away from them and making new friends had to be priority.  Most everyone I know exists inside this little black box known as my laptop.  But, as you know, everyone needs a real hand to hold every now an again.  And, honestly, my husband has been my best friend for many years now but women need other women.  We need our girlfriends.

Therefore, when the following challenge was issued to me by one of the sponsors of my Slim Perfect People’s Choice Award, I couldn’t say no.  And, it certainly didn’t help that just a month or so ago, I made a very new friend and the bond has grown quickly.  Here’s the challenge:

Jerri Ann, your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to reach out to a new friend this week. Then come to Girlfriendology.com and share your comments in the community. Share and inspire. Let’s make the world a better place – one friendship at a time!

I’m headed over to Girlfriendology to post an introduction to my story and to explain how my story is going to be continued into another date later in the upcoming months as my new “girlfriend and I” will be taking a “girls retreat” from another one of my great sponsors.  Don’t miss out!

P.S.  You can join Girlfriendology too and read the whole story there and and I’ll be sure to link all of these up.

Stay tuned…
