I’ve had many adults in and out of my life that have made an impact on me.  My dad was a teacher and I was surrounded by teachers my whole life.  Most of whom didn’t have children of their own and felt comfortable parenting me when they saw fit.  One woman in particular was my tenth grade English teacher.  She corrected my grammar from about age 8 til well…..til I wasn’t around her everyday.  I’m almost certain that if I spent much time with her now, her instincts would kick right in.

They were all friends of my dad who died at the prime age of 43.  They all continued to teach, continued on with their lives after my father died.  But, when the time come for them to retire, it was all bitter sweet…knowing that had my father lived, he would be right there with them, retiring, hanging up the proverbial piece of chalk.

Anyway, my children have several adults in their lives right now that are influential but most of them are relatives.  The daycare workers that we employed will be easily forgotten because there were so many of them and some for very short periods of time.  Mini Me’s daycare provider now might hold a spot in his heart for a while, we’ll just have to wait and see.  Ditto Boy’s kindergarten teacher won’t easily be forgotten either, she is that wonderful.

But, the man who is coaching my son’s ball team right now?  I hope he remains a constant in their lives for some time to come.  His grandson plays, his son is one of the coaches and they are simply put, good people.  Just look at this face, you can’t fake this kind of goodness, this kind of enjoyment for the kids and the game…….
