I have really odd hair.  In high school I never had the cool hairstyle because my hair was always just “bad”.  I didn’t realize just how bad it was til I started high school.  Then, around the age f 20 I decided to let it grow out.  And, with that, I wore the same hairsytle from 1990 until last fall.

It managed to grow in length, I grew out a bad perm and bad color about 1992 or 1993 and then, I rode the “it’s not as bad as it used to be” train with this head of hair.  Until….

Last fall I got this wild rush when I saw the reverse bob on all these folks and I had this horrible idea that my hair was “better than it was” so I had my very fine, very thin hair cut.  And, immediately, it was horrible again.  I returned to days of not just bad hair days but I couldn’t even put it in a pretty ponytail or braid it and be done.  All I could do was attempt to style it.  Not an easy task when you have “bad hair every day”

So, near Christmas I started the return to growing out the bad hair style and it is at least all one length now, it’s just that it’s very short, still no ponytails or braids but, I was on the right track.

Then, as summer started to heat up, I wanted some highlights.  But, I had missed the spring special at my local shop where I normally get my highlights twice a year and only during their special months.  Yes my hair grows so slow that I can go 6 months without having my hair re-highlighted.

So, someone told me about this great lady who had a shop at home and she does great work.  And, she was more than just reasonable, she was down right cheap.  And, she had been highlighting this young woman’s hair for several years.

So, I took the plunge.  Yes, it was cheap, yes it was the way my normal style does it.  So….why did it turn out looking so…..yellow……and ….not pretty at all.

The yellow/orange hair is so bad, I’m not showing it….you just have to trust me…

So, I was really bummed because hello, I”m going to Blogher in July and I”m going to meet some awesome women with great hair. But, mine?  Mine is a bit orange and a bit short and a bit “bad”.  Honestly, I just have bad hair everyday again, just like when I was a teenager.

Susan of Friday Playdate, Heather of No Pasa Nada, Danielle of Foodmomiac and Sparrow Hair in Chicago are having a little hair makeover contest.  And, do you know what I would do for good hair, if only for a short time, until I am forced to wash it again or until the pretty wears off?

I’ve watched every reality show every shown on television and I can eat any kind of bug with the best of them, crawl through obstacle courses, eat slop for a few days or even learn the names of all the contestants on a particular show just in the name of winning immunity and not being voted off.  So, surely if that is the case, I could do any of this for a short stint with good hair.

I really do long for some good hair because bad hair everyday is really a pain in the arse.
