Re-usable bags are all the rage these days.  And, the thing is, you can help by gathering yourself a collection of re-usable bags and taking them with you to the store.  You have to have a plan though or they will be forgotten each time.  Here’s how we do it…..just an idea..

I have my Calypso Studios bags along with some bags that I have gathered at conferences in previous months.  We’ll start with already being at the store and just assume we made it to the store with all our disposable bags.  We put all the bags into the biggest bag we can find and then we use that to cushion the eggs in the top rack of the buggy.

Just a side note, I use the child safety straps and put my purse in the big part of the buggy and strapped to those child safety things so no one can just grab it and run…and of course, once it’s full, that’s not going t happen anyway.

When we arrive at the counter, we unload everything and it is as simple as picking up the eggs and handing over our disposable bags to my husband so he can fill them up.

We load the buggy back up with our groceries in the disposable bags and then unload them again again at home.  Here’s the tricky part.

We always buy something large like 24 pack of soda, a large jug of laundry detergent, etc.  We take all the groceries inside, unpack our re-usable bags and when the last one is empty, we put them all in the biggest bag and take them with us to my truck to get the last remaining big item (soda’s, laundry detergent, etc).  We stash them in the corner of the trunk and grab the big item which wouldn’t fit in a bag anyway.

And now…there’s no chance of forgetting!

So, make a plan, one that suits your family and then there’s no excuse.  For quite a while we would enter our local store and at the same time almost say, “man, we forgot our bags again”.  Now, the only times we have “forgot” have been when we actually did our shopping in my husband’s car and not mine.  Which has only been once or twice.
